One of the top-acts is at the same time a parenthesis of film and music. Sonia Wieder-Atherton, long-time composer of film music for Chantal Akerman, opens the festival with the cinema concert D’Est en Musique. The musicians become one with the film
image; the film image absorbs the musicians as organic part of itself.
It surprises nobody that musicians play in the street without being run
over. Sonia Wieder-Atherton has reassembled Chantal Akerman’s
film D’Est to fit a new score she selected for it. It is
impossible to draw the line between music, film and theatre. As lecturer of the extensive workshop
programme Sound & Film Music Sonia Wieder-Atherton is going to talk
about her compositions and her long-time cooperation with Chantal
