FIRST KISS - LAST KISS

FIRST KISS

How exciting the first kiss is! And even more exciting than the first kiss is the foreplay.
When and where should I dare to? Should I? The first kiss is often perceived as something unprecedented, forbidden even. Whatever, it is
an all-important event in the process of growing up and finding one's way to one's sexuality.

The romantic ideal of combining art with the kiss is, in the face of cold reality, something completely different. Before the eyes of all our friends at school, notes are sent and returned
so that - at last! - we dare that first kiss
(if in full view of the public). In her documentary film, FERIENLIEBE, FranÁoise Davisse' s observation
of all this is simply wonderful.

For many of us, the cinema is the place where we learn to take the first steps towards this Big Moment in life. Hanna, for example, in EMPORTE MOI
is fascinated by Nana, Godard's female lead in VIVRE LA VIE. Hanna wants to be just like her.

Things are rarely as joyous and carefree as in our special opening film - SUMMER OR 27 MISSING KISSES - directed by Nana Djordjadze. Here we become acquainted with a Georgian village that,
one fine summer, gradually subsides into a veritable love frenzy. Caught up in all this is the young Sybil who is spending her summer holidays there.

LAST KISS

One of the many problems that our society has with love is that nobody is quite sure when it should begin and when it should end. In this programme the films will highlight the difficulties
that come about precisely because there are no rules of finishing. But they will also show
a few opportunities that society offers instead. The films selected narrate of leaving, of the end
of love and the affair - whether it's because the former lovers no longer have anything
to offer one another or whether sickness and death have intervened. At the same time, the point is made that the last kiss can be symbolise for a new start.
